Martin Leyland BSc MD FRCOphth

Welcome to Berkshire Eye Surgery

I am a comprehensively trained general ophthalmologist with sub-specialist skills in corneal and external eye disease and in micro-incision cataract surgery. I aim to provide a highly professional and personal service, with expert diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical skills.

I hope in this website to answer questions relating particularly to conditions affecting the  eyelid margin, conjunctiva, cornea and lens of the eye and their treatments, and explain some of the surgical procedures available to treat ophthalmic disease.  Information sheets can be printed out for ease of reference.

Please do feel free to contact me if you have further questions.

Patient Information

The patient information papers available on this website have been written to help patients understand their symptoms, diagnosis and treatments; and the benefits and risks of surgery. PDFs of these pages may be downloaded or printed.

Surgical Videos

For patients who wish to know further details of their surgery the best way to explain is to show video footage of actual surgery showing the principle steps of each procedure. Please do not open these pages if you are likely to find videos of eye surgery distressing.
